Danielle Edwards, Fisheries Project Coordinatort 250.725.2536 |
Danielle Edwards joined Ecotrust Canada in 2006 as a fisheries project coordinator. She has a B.Sc. in biology, specializing in marine ecology, and spent several years conducting forestry ecology research in Clayoquot Sound prior to returning to the fisheries world. Danielle continues to maintain diverse interests working with Parks Canada on wildlife management issues and database design, but devotes most of her energies to fisheries, including co-authoring Ecotrust Canada's Catch-22 report, participating in the groundfish integration process in BC, sitting at the Commercial Industry Caucus as a technical advisor to the BC Hook-and-Line Dogfish Association, and representing the Dogfish Association in the Department of Fisheries and Ocean's Electronic Monitoring Subcommittee. Danielle currently is completing a master's degree in Resource and Environmental Management at Simon Fraser University. Danielle hails from a multi-generation fishing family on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Her family continues to be active in the fishing industry, primarily in the spiny dogfish, halibut and crab fisheries.
