Controlled Wood Policy Commitment

Ecotrust Canada is committed to making its Forest Stewardship Council® Chain of Custody Group as effective and well managed as possible. This involves ensuring that our members meet all FSC® Chain of Custody and Controlled Wood standards.

Ecotrust Canada is also committed to implementing its best efforts to ensure that group members avoid trading and sourcing wood from the following five categories:

  • Illegally harvested wood
  • Wood harvested in violation of traditional and civil rights
  • Wood harvested in forests where high conservation values are threatened by management activities
  • Wood harvested in forests being converted to plantations or non forest use
  • Wood from forests in which genetically modified trees are planted
