We are pleased to welcome to Jonathan Dopson as our newest Electronic Monitoring (EM) Technician for the Area A crab fleet.
Jonathan studied at Prince Rupert Secondary School where his curriculum was always filled with various technical studies including robotics and IT classes. During that time, he also gained valuable work experience at local electronics/computer repair shops and completed an Operating Systems II course at Northwest Community College which revolved around Ubuntu – the operating system selected to support EM. Having a whole life of tinkering with hardware, he has always wanted to apply that to a future career and his big plan is to study at BCIT to obtain a diploma of technical studies through the System Administration course, while also dabbling in Network Administration. In Jonathan’s free time he enjoys playing and creating music on guitar, piano, and most favorably drums.
Jonathan grew up in Prince Rupert and brings local knowledge of the area and community to the team. In his role as EM technician, he’ll be servicing vessels in the Prince Rupert and Port Edward areas; troubleshooting hardware and software issues; and working with the team to ensure a functional, dependable and cost-effective program for the Area A crab fleet.
