But with the help of our Qwii-qwiq-sap initiative, Terry Dorward-Seitcher's family in Clayoquot Sound recently broke ground for the building of the first ‘Green and culturally appropriate building’ in the region. Building the Conservation Economy in Northern Ontario

Chiefs, Mayors, elders, industry and community representatives in North East Superior, Ontario, hope for healthier moose populations, more sturgeon, and businesses stable enough to create summer jobs for kids. Now they're working to create the economy and environment to support just this. We recently attended a five-day workshop to help them envision what this new kind of economy looks like.

Ecotrust Canada cartographer and GIS trainer Eliana Macdonald has put together a brand new collection of use and occupancy mapping icons. All icons in the collection are now freely available under Creative Commons licensing for download and use by mappers, through the Aboriginal Mapping Network.
