Ecotrust Canada has provided sustainable and economically viable services for the Area A Crab Fishery for the past ten years. From our office in Prince Rupert, BC, on Coast Ts’msyen traditional territory, our Fisheries team trains fish harvesters and observers on collecting biological data on Dungeness Crab.

Having good data means we can maintain a sustainable crab fishery. This program is funded by Area A crab fish harvesters. The crab data collected is used by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) in support of science, conservation, and management activities. In addition to data collection, we also offer at-sea observer training, such as salmon and crab, which helps build local fisheries knowledge and capacity.
