For over a decade, Shannon has been sharing stories from the chambers of Parliament to salmon runs in the Skeena River.
After graduating from the Master of Journalism program at Carleton University, she sought work in a remote community where her reporting could make a difference. She moved to Ts’msyen Territory, Prince Rupert, BC, in 2015 to write and record stories about local people and to keep them informed about their elected governments, policies, and economic development. For three and a half years, she reported and edited for The Northern View, a community newspaper, as well as other media outlets.
This work connected her to Ecotrust Canada’s innovative projects within the community and beyond. Impressed by the organization’s mission and work, she joined the team in June 2019 as Manager of Communications and Engagement to elevate the organization’s impact through compelling storytelling and multimedia content.
Shannon now lives and works remotely on the shores of Lake Huron, within the Traditional Territory of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Wendat, and Neutral Peoples. In her spare time, she works on her latest novel, teaches yoga, or explores the outdoors — running, paddling, or hiking.
