About the role:

Ecotrust Canada is looking for an eager and community-minded intern to join our Indigenous Homelands Team. You’ll help us learn what communities in the Central Coast or Interior of British Columbia need when it comes to housing and local decision-making.

You’ll be part of two key projects: our new Routes to Roots initiative and our Indigenous Housing and Homelands Toolkit. You’ll work closely with our Program Manager, local advisors, and community partners throughout the summer.

Ecotrust Canada strongly encourages Indigenous youth from the region to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and launch of the toolkit
  • Support community needs assessments and local activities
  • Check in regularly with your supervisor on project priorities and feedback

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or someone who has been granted refugee protection
  • Be legally allowed to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good communication skills — both speaking and writing
  • Interest in Indigenous governance, housing policy, or efforts to bring Indigenous languages and traditions back to life
  • Ability to work on your own and manage your time well in a remote setting
  • A connection to or interest in First Nations communities in BC is an asset
