For the first time, representatives from the six Tŝilhqot’in communities (Tl’etinqox, ʔEsdilagh, Yuneŝit’in, Tŝi Deldel, Tl’esqox and Xeni Gwet’in) and the Tsilhqot’in National Government gathered on the traditional territory of Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (Kamloops, BC) September 27-28, 2022 for a two-day housing retreat. Ecotrust Canada’s Indigenous Home-Lands team led the planning and facilitation with select representatives from the six Tŝilhqot’in communities and the Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG).
The housing retreat represented the first opportunity to bring housing representatives together from all six of the communities to address the challenges faced to date with implementing the investment strategy and to collectively develop solutions toward a long-term Nation-level approach to Tŝilhqot’in housing.
