Born and raised in the alluring West Kootenays, Katy has always relished in being outdoors. Her love of the natural world led her into the field of environmental studies.
After graduating in 2016 with a diploma in recreation, and fish and wildlife, from Selkirk College, she made a leap of faith and moved to Prince Rupert on her own with an ambition to gain experience in pursuit of a career. Since the summer of 2016, she has been working in a variety of fisheries programs. Katy began surveying and sampling the recreational sport fishery, then moved to monitoring the commercial fishing industry in dockside validations, video review, and electronic monitoring maintenance.
Katy decided to join the Ecotrust Canada team officially in September 2020. She is currently working as a Video Analyst, Data Entry Clerk and Observer in the Fisheries Monitoring Program with the intention of growing in Ecotrust Canada’s fisheries programs. In her off-time, Katy enjoys creating art and jewelry, gaining inspiration from her outdoor explorations.
