Mia is from Cortes Island, the unceded ancestral territory of the Klahoose, Tla’amin, and Homalco Nations. There, she grew up harvesting and eating wild seafood.
She has spent the last few summers working as a guide and naturalist on Haida Gwaii. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Conservation in 2024 and is excited to apply her knowledge in fisheries management at Ecotrust Canada. As Project Coordinator, Mia will support dockside and at-sea monitoring for Community-Based Fisheries in Haida Gwaii.
She has always loved getting out on the water and values local food systems that nourish coastal communities. Outside of work, she can be found swimming in the ocean, hiking in the woods, cooking, and playing music.
