Rising energy costs, poor energy efficiency in homes, and a changing climate are having profound impacts on British Columbians’ health and safety. These issues are hitting lower-income households the hardest. It’s time to envision an end to energy insecurity in BC.
We’d like to invite you to SAVE THE DATE for our upcoming Home Energy Justice Forum, which will be held at UBC Robson Square on xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) territories, in Vancouver on April 12, 2023.
This will be an all-day event involving both speakers and hands-on participation. Planned themes include the role and evolution of income-qualified retrofit programs, bill assistance programs, codes for existing buildings, and regulations for rental suites, including the “right to cooling,” and how these differ in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities.
Anticipated attendees include representatives from provincial and federal governments, utilities, community leaders, and non-government organizations, as well as relevant speakers and experts.
This is an invite-only event. If you are interested in attending the event please reach out to us.
