“There is a need for a full range of social finance tools to support the green economy, particularly in rural communities so that they don’t get left behind the current attention on cities “ said Brenda Kuecks, President of Ecotrust Canada, to a packed audience at BC Hydro’s 2010 Power Smart Forum in Vancouver on October 25th.
Kuecks, who spoke on the main plenary panel, joined Surrey Mayor Diana Ross and Junxion Stragies’ Peter ter Weeme to offer a snapshot of BC’s move to a green economy, and offered examples of how rural communities are organizing for success, and can best connect with broader trends in the emergence of the green economy.
