Andrea is completing her Master of Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. Her focus is on researching the effect of education and community-building on food insecurity in Canada. Drawing on her communications skills developed from an advertising career, she aims to create long-standing connections in hope to improve the variables that influence social capital disparities. At the end of her summer term as Mitacs Coordinator in partnership with Fukasaku of Prince Rupert, she aims to better understand the underlying environmental-economic context of food availability.
Andrea wishes her hometown of Toronto was closer to the ocean and is excited each time she can explore and visit coastlines. While living in Australia, she developed a deep affinity for ocean wonder, exploration, and conservation. When not daydreaming about the sea Andrea may be found hiking, cycling, hula hooping or running her laughter yoga club.
