Jonathan has 30 years’ experience in the investment management business, primarily as an equity analyst and portfolio manager. He joined Canadian investment firm Phillips, Hager & North Investment Management Ltd. (PH&N) in 1995 after spending seven years with a major Canadian investment counsellor as a portfolio manager and equity research analyst, covering primarily the Forest Products sector. At PH&N, Jonathan managed institutional client portfolios and was responsible for a number of the firm’s large investment funds. Amongst other roles, he also acted as liaison to Sky Investment Counsel, an affiliate firm specialising in international (EAFE and Emerging Market) equity investments, and authored a number of research papers on investment issues. He was also a member of the Aboriginal Services Team, developing and servicing relationships with First Nations in Canada, and has travelled extensively amongst these communities.
Jonathan was a Vice-President and shareholder of PH&N prior to its acquisition by the Royal Bank of Canada in 2008. He left the firm in 2011 to concentrate on personal interests.
Jonathan holds a B.A. from the University of British Columbia, is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and is a past president of the Vancouver Society of Financial Analysts. He resides in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
